Why I wrote this letter to Cute Home

I stopped keeping my skincare in the bathroom. This pink stick is the reason.

A customer's letter about the Pinkish Volume Multi Balm, in her own words.

I am not someone who writes letters to companies. I am someone who, for years, kept a shelf of half-used jars in the bathroom and used about one in four of them, because skincare that needs a clean sink and five spare minutes never survives a busy morning.

A few months ago I tried a pink balm stick called the Pinkish PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm. It is now the one thing I use every day, so when Cute Home asked if I would put my experience in writing, I said yes. Here is what I noticed, in the order I noticed it.

One thing first: this is my own experience. Your skin is your own, and it may not behave the same way.

1The reason I stuck with it: it fits the day I already have

The stick is the whole reason. I twist the base, swipe it under my eyes and along my cheeks, and put the lid back on. That takes about ten seconds. There is no jar to open and no cream to rub in, and the balm feels smooth rather than sticky, so I can do it at my desk or in the car and carry on with clean hands.

Every product I have ever kept up was one I could use in the middle of a day. This is the first skincare I have done at work.

"If I have to find a spare hand, I will not do it. A stick, I do."

2One swipe, so there is nothing to remember

The routine is three steps and one of them is optional. Swipe it directly onto clean, dry skin, go over the spots you care about, and blend with your fingertips if you feel like it. I do it in the morning, usually at the kitchen bench while the coffee is going, and again at night.

I did not expect a routine this small to become a habit, but it did. I think that is the point: the best skincare is the kind you actually do.

3It feels light, and my skin looks fresh, not greasy

What I noticed first was the finish. It leaves a soft, dewy look without the heavy feeling I get from richer creams, and it sits well under makeup, so it works before work as well as before bed.

Over the following weeks my skin felt more hydrated and looked smoother to me, especially around my eyes by mid-afternoon, which is when I used to look and feel most tired. I am not claiming miracles, and I still have lines, but my skin looks fresher and I like what I see.

4The ingredient list reads like a serum shelf

I am not a skincare nerd, but I read the box. The stick is built around 5% Volufiline, a patented ingredient known for supporting fuller-looking skin, plus liposomal PDRN, a Korean-beauty favourite for supporting skin repair and elasticity, and 200 Dalton collagen, designed for better absorption. There is also hyaluronic acid, caffeine and vitamin E for hydration and a rested look.

I was reassured that it was honest about itself. It is a cosmetic product that supports how skin looks and feels, and it does not pretend to be a treatment. It does contain retinol, so I patch tested it first and I wear sunscreen in the daytime, as the pack says.

5It goes everywhere I go

At 10 g it is about the size of a thick lip balm. It lives in my handbag with my keys and my sunglasses, and it has never leaked, smudged or spilled. I have used it in the car, between meetings and at the kitchen bench.

I also like that one stick covers the lot: under my eyes, around my smile lines, along my cheeks and over my forehead and neck. I do not need a separate product for each.

6I bought a second one within a few weeks

A stick lives in one place at a time, and I wanted one in my handbag and one by my bed. So I ordered again, and because the bundle is buy-one-get-one-free, the second stick cost me nothing extra.

I have since given one to a friend, and it has become my default gift: small, tidy, and ready to use the moment it is unwrapped.

One honest note before the price

Because I would want to know this before buying: this is a cosmetic skincare product. It is designed to improve the look and feel of skin. It is not a medical treatment, and it will not replace a clinic procedure if that is what you are after.

It contains retinol, so patch test on a small area first, wear sunscreen in the daytime, keep it away from your eyes, and check with your doctor before using it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Give it a few weeks, because skin looks better with a habit than a one-off.

Everyone's skin is different. What I have described is my experience, not a promise.

The balm stick, against the jars already on my shelf

Not every jar is bad, and some of mine are lovely. But this is the plain difference I noticed in daily use.

The jars on my shelf

  • Need a spare hand and a clean surface
  • Scoop with fingers, then rub in
  • Often made for one area
  • Easy to leave at home
  • Can feel heavy under makeup

Pinkish balm stick

  • Twist, swipe, done
  • Non-sticky, soft and dewy finish
  • Under eyes, cheeks, smile lines, forehead, neck and lips
  • Fits in a handbag, nothing to spill
  • Sits neatly under makeup

About the price

I will be straightforward, because the price made me hesitate. Skincare can be expensive, and I have bought plenty that did not earn its place on my shelf.

The Pinkish Volume Multi Balm is $69.95 for two sticks (buy 1, get 1 free), reduced from $280.00. Every bundle works out to about $35 a stick, and delivery within Australia is free. What made me comfortable was the 30-day money-back guarantee, which meant I could simply try it.
